Measurement and corresponding states modeling of asphaltene precipitation in Jilin reservoir oils

چکیده
The asphaltene precipitation of two reservoir oil samples collected from Jinlin oil field has been studied under pressure and with/without CO2-injection conditions. No asphaltene precipitation was detected during the pressure depletion processes without CO2 injection. For the CO2-injected oil systems, the effects of operating pressure, injected CO2 concentration, and multiple-contact on the onset and amount of asphaltene precipitation were studied under the reservoir temperature. No asphaltene precipitation was observed when the operating pressure is remote from the minimum miscibility pressure (MMP). However, appreciable asphaltene precipitation was detected when the operating pressure approached or exceeded the MMP. The amount of asphaltene precipitation increased with the concentration of injected CO2. A generalized corresponding states principle (CSP) for prediction of asphaltene precipitation data is produced and reported here. The proposed CSP theory complements the scaling equation for asphaltene precipitation under the influence of n-alkane precipitants. Based on literature data and the data measured in this work, the parameters and exponents of a corresponding states equation capable of describing the asphaltene precipitation behavior in the studied high-pressure CO2-injected crude oil systems are reported. Experimental Investigation and Modeling of Asphaltene Precipitation Due to Gas Injection
Asphaltene instability is one of the major problems in gas injection projects throughout the world. Numerous models have been developed to predict asphaltene precipitation; The scaling equation is an attractive tool because of its simplicity and not involving complex properties of asphaltene. In this work, a new scaling model is presented to account for asphaltene precipitation due to gas ...
متن کاملModeling of Asphaltene Phase Behavior with the Saft Equation of State
The SAFT equation of state was used to model asphaltene phase behavior in a model live oil and a recombined oil under reservoir conditions. The equation of state parameters for the asphaltenes were fit to precipitation data from oil titrations with n-alkanes at ambient conditions. The SAFT model was then used to predict the asphaltene stability boundaries in the live oils. A lumping scheme that...

A pre®iously described molecular-thermodynamic framework, based on colloid theory, is used to correlate experimental asphaltene-precipitation data at high-temperature and pressure conditions. In this framework, asphaltenes and resins are represented by pseudopure components, and all other components in a crude oil are presented by a continuous medium that affects ®an der Waals attractions among...
متن کاملModeling Asphaltene Precipitation by n-Alkanes from Heavy Oils and Bitumens Using Cubic-Plus-Association Equation of State
We apply a cubic-plus-association equation of state to study the asphaltene precipitation from n-alkane diluted model solutions (asphalteneþtoluene), and heavy oils and bitumens. Heavy oils and bitumens are characterized in terms of saturates, aromatics/resins, and asphaltenes; n-alkanes are treated independently. The asphaltene precipitation is modeled as liquid-liquid phase equilibrium. The s...
متن کاملPrediction of Solvent Effect on Asphaltene Precipitation at Reservoir Conditions
The aim of the current study is to evaluate the effects of inhibitors or solvents on asphaltene precipitation under reservoir conditions. To this end, the interaction between live oil and solvent, and its side effects on precipitated/dissolved asphaltene were predicted via Miller’s entropy modified polymer solution theory under reservoir conditions. Then, the adjustable parameters of the model ...
